I work with people who are ready, willing and able to invest in themselves, people who are committed to the idea of themselves and all that they can be.

After over thirty five years of practice as a Clinical Psychologist, I retired from my practice in 2012, to pursue training in Holistic Therapy and Coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I now have a private practice as a Board Certified, Integrative Life, Health and Wellness Therapist. This enables me to practice in a truly holistic way, one which focuses upon the pursuit of health and healing rather than diagnosing, pathologizing and supressing symptoms. I am now free to leave behind the world of being encouraged, if not forced, to view you as nothing more than a diagnostic disorder, and instead, to relate to you as a multi-faceted, infinitely complex whole person.
In my many years practicing as a Clinical Psychologist, I had the opportunity and honor to work in a variety of settings. I began my career doing private practice, college and university teaching and consulting( UCLA, UCSC, California State University at Northridge and Long Beach, Immaculate Heart College, and The California scool of Professional Psychology ). I also worked as a consultant to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, doing psychological evaluations of law enforcement applicants and officers.
Later, I moved to Wyoming, where I was the Chief Psychologist at the Pineridge Psychiatric Hospital for several years. There, I helped to set up an eating disorders program and also evaluated every patient who was admitted to either the psychology program or the chemical dependency program. I also supervised the therapy staff, taught classes to and did individual and group therapy with patients, and worked on innovating the development of wilderness therapy programs in collaboration with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Lander, WY.
Next, I moved to Oregon and became Director of the Eating Disorders Outpatient Treatment Program at Portland Adventist Medical Center and began my private practice in Gresham, Oregon.
Over my 35+ years of practice, I have worked with people with a broad variety of emotional, relationship and health issues, including:
- eating disorders
- depressed moods
- worrying, anxiety and fear
- auto-immune diseases
- cardiovascular disease
- unresolved grief
- sleep disorders
- joint pain
unresolved trauma (PTSD)
- sugar and other food addictions
- food allergies
- weight problems
Now, as a holistic practitioner, I am able to bring to my practice the additional knowledge and skills that enable me to teach you how to achieve and maintain a healthy digestive system, which is the critical foundation of emotional, mental and physical health. I also teach people that digestion is not just about food. It is also about your ability to "digest" the many unresolved issues in your life which effect your overall physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. For example, whether you are "at war" with your spouse, your kids, your family, your co-workers, or your self and/or your body, you will not be able to attain good overall physical, emotional or relationship health until you "digest" and resolve all of the issues that underlie those conflict.
I practice out of my home, which is in a beautiful country setting, and am also available for phone consultations. I consider one's connection to nature and animals to be a vital part of human health. Given all of my years of experience, I am able to work with adults, teens and older children, on most issues that arise by virtue of being a human being on the planet at this very difficult point in time.
